This winter saw Work Wife, the project of Brooklyn-by-way of Seattle indie-folk artist Meredith Lamprecently, release their Quitting Season EP via Born Losers Records.
Opening up the EP is “Apathy” a song that taps into a world of dreamy folk rock with a 90s asthetic in the air that feels just as emotive as it does meditative and hopeful. It’s an intro that serves well as a curtain raiser for all that awaits on the release.
Another highlight is “December Summer” a more widescreen terrain into the world of folk rock with a lovely lush guitar tone and atmospheric style of production. There is a simple but utterly effective sense of emotion felt throughout the track which feels like a blend of Japanese Breakfast, Phoebe Bridgers and Heartless Bastards. All good things.
