Will the Whale is the solo project of Austin, Texas native Will Boesl who will return with his new album Only Things of the Heart Remain an album produced by Bennett Littlejohn (Hovvdy, Katy Kirby) which will be released on February 24.
“The Way” is a single taken from the album, a song described as “an honest expression of reconciliation.” It captures a 90s-esque dreamy bedroom folk sound with heartfelt lyrics and a sweet performance that feels raw tender and true.
Or as Boesl puts it:
The Way is an honest expression of reconciliation. I was separated from my family for nine years at the time of writing this song, split for the majority of my twenties. This division taught me an important lesson on reconciliation: certainty leads to unkindness. Sometimes (most of the time?), we can be in our own way to growth. A play on words of the spiritual teaching of “The Way” found in many religions, this song is a dedication of the hard path to love and reconnection.
