Brooklyn’s Slow Fiction will release their self-titled EP on February 16, from which they have already shared single “Top 10 Movie Scenes.” They have since followed it up with the EPs next single, “In the distance, where it doesn’t matter.”
The track captures a mix of heavenly expansive rock with a highly emotive atmosphere and widescreen cinematic nature that builds and builds to a delirious high that feels like it could have come out of the 90s. Powerhouse vocals from vocalist Julia Vassallo tie it all home in a way that feels uplifting and cathartic.
Speaking on the single Vassallo adds:
“There’s an old saying ‘there are three sides to every story: your side, their side, and the truth.’ The goal was to have this song embody a three-edged sword. Sometimes, the lines of reality and perception become distorted. The title is a line from a poem ‘Imagining Defeat’ by David Berman, who is a great inspiration.”
