Linebeck is a four-piece dream pop outfit from Hamilton, Ontario who shared their new single “karoshi (Over a Dream)” days before ringing in the new year.

The single is a charming slice of jangly indie rock/pop with a very 80s sense of nostalgia. Think of The Smiths mixed with bands like A Sunny Day in Glasgow or The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. There’s a youthful spirit that runs through it with a rather catchy nature, but also a strong centered emotional undercurrent.

Or as the band puts it:

‘Karoshi’ means ‘death by overwork’ in Japanese. ‘karoshi (Over a Dream)’ is about just that – it’s about hating your job and balancing it with chasing an unachievable dream.
