Glasgow-based indie rockers Dutch Wine have been a rather consistent presence on these pages over the years. The prolific band returned back in November with their brand new EP, As The Sun.

“Only One” is the lead single and opening effort from the EP, one that the band made with the goal of capturing the essence of their live performance. The band summons a feeling of wonder and atmospheric unease in a way that is compelling and certainly feels primal in its energy in a way you expect from a live performance.

Or as the band’s lead singer Calvin Smith puts it:

“I feel so much of what we’re about is present in our live performance, so it always makes sense that we try and emulate that as much as possible. Playing the songs at full volume in a tiny room together helps us all get on the same wave-length and really understand what the song is communicating.”
