This fall saw Asheville, North Carolina indie outfit Secret Shame return with their sophomore album Autonomy.
“Color Drain” is one of the LP’s lead singles and highlights. A blend of dreamy post-rock and 90s rock with an emotive melancholic vocal performance and atmospheric feeling in the air.
The song confronts “their long battle with anorexia, and is about how it feels to walk through the world in an apathetic and dissociative state after realizing that they both wanted help and didn’t want to accept help.” It’s a powerful listen, one that packs a subtle but effective punch.
