Ava McCoy is a New York-based indie-folk singer-songwriter who won our hearts with her recently shared single “From Me”.
The song was written in her dad’s basement during the pandemic, with just her and a bass. The track features a raw confessional folk sound that transforms into a 90s power pop/rock anthem of sorts (think Big Thief, Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail) that is raw and real in all the best ways possible.
Speaking further on the track, McCoy adds:
I wrote this song during the pandemic in my dad’s basement, just me and a bass. The song poured out and I released the initial voice memo on a side project of mine, Baker Collective. My friends told me I should record it as a full song, so I did, and it got some attention on Tiktok once I shared it. “From Me” has changed my life, and it’s a meeting place for my americana-folk background and recent rock influences.
