Brooklyn-based band David Jacobson and the Space Wizards have returned with their new album David Jacobson and the Space Wizards II, an album that features many warm and tender classic rock songs that deliver a tender gut punch.

Take “Starting To Forget You” a heartbreaking slice of 70s classic rock in a ballad form that is as sweet and nostalgic as they come. Well-adorned strings add a cinematic flourish, with some hints of the sort of psych-rock inflicted by acts like The Flaming Lips.

Or “Sweet Friend’ which showcases some mean guitar licks, and riffs that remind of some of the giants of the genre with a grand sweeping vocal delivery reminiscent of greats like Tom Petty.

Then there’s “Crushing” a more folk and Americana/alt-country effort with a comforting laid-back approach that is smartly delivered in a way that feels like a warm summer’s day. An approach similarly found on the sweeping “So I Say”, a track gorgeously soundtracked with horns that give it a bit of a lounge kick that feels very old school Father John Misty.
