Paul Spring is a name you may not recognize, despite releasing a handful of solo albums as well as albums with his band Holy Hive. He also worked and wrote with artists such as Robin Pecknold, Sasami, Blackthought, and Mary Lattimore.
He is gearing up for his upcoming new album Thunderhead, which will be released on December 17th. Ahead of its release, we have two great pre-release singles to share with you.
First is the gorgeous and expansive psych-folk journey “Queen Gohma.” The track opens up with a Fleet Foxes-esque tender folk quality, opening its wings and coasting through the clouds with a naturalistic quality that soars high in the sky.
Then there is “Beetle on a Blade”, an artful folk journey that carries a bit of a darker atmosphere. There is a Jose Gonzalez-esque tone to the performance which almost carries itself with a medieval tone and spirit, tapping into an old-school quality that suites his style of play and vocals eerily well – with traces of the experimental nature and quirkiness of Alt-J.
Stay tuned for the full album next week and for now, enjoy both singles which we have shared below.
