This fall saw Philadelphia-based indie rocker Air Devi release her new EP, Rooting for you, which was released via Devil Town Tapes.
Air Devi has been a rather consistent source of great songs that have connected with us over the years, and “Dharti” is another one to add to the list.
It’s a single from the EP but also a track that offers a new dimension to her sound with some more worldly influences to her 90s-esque emotive garage and indie sensibilities.
Speaking on the track, she adds:
This is a song about a girl I met several years ago in India. She grew up in totally different life circumstances than me, yet I felt we could have been the same person only born in different places. I so badly wished that I could’ve done something to help her have a better life, but I was told that it wasn’t my place, and what could I do, really? I realized that the only thing could do was write this song.
