Hull sextet Low Hummer has returned with their brand new single “Panic Calls.” It’s another art-rock spin of post-punk with a playful tone that has a raw nature to it that works fully to their advantage.

The track “references the futility of mental health support by imitating generic, automated answer machines of crisis lines.”

“Panic Calls” sees the band deliver their sound in a way that builds upon what came before, with a sharp angular heft and a swift and confident rise in action that suites them wonderfully.

Speaking on the track

“There was a sort of conversation floating in the air that inspired the lyrics of Panic Calls. Danand I wrote as though we were trying to ring crisis lines; the discourse of the song shiftsbetween us trying to explain our feelings, then always being met with generic, automatedresponses. The intention was to sort of mirror the futility of mental health support, and, hopefully, show how relatable that issue is.”
