Sydney quartet Jet City Sports Club are making a case for one of the most promising new acts in all of indie rock at the moment, with a consistency so rarely seen at any stage – let alone so early into one’s career.

The band recently returned with their new single “Green Thumb” another glorious slice of shimmering dream pop with a shine to the production that hasn’t quite been seen from their releases so far to date.

But this is a large spanning and expansive sound that draws a fine line between power pop and dreamy indie rock, one that carries a tremendous emotional weight that builds and builds as the track goes along. Imagine a mix of Alvvays, Alex Lahey, The Beths, and Courtney Barnett and you got a bit of “Green Thumb”, which you can find streaming now below, along with a quote from the band’s Lilla Obradovic:

“I started writing Green Thumb one afternoon when I looked around my apartment and realized I only had one houseplant that was still alive. So I suppose I started thinking ‘I hope I don’t neglect relationships like I do my plants!’ Jack is really good at bringing light summery and anthemic themes and fun catchy riffs into our music and so from there we just built on that before taking it first to the rehearsal studio with the band and then to Fletcher the Producer we worked on for this one.”
