Homephone is the Salt Like City-based bedroom/dream-pop project of Joseph Sandholtz and Ysabelle Stepp. The pair released their new record Melon Collie earlier in the year and have quickly followed it up with their latest single, “Hot Tea.”

The song is about the “turmoil of leaving a toxic relationship” and the track captures a smooth and groovy sound but also one that captures a bit of an emotive and insular sound that we so often turn to in such tough times. It’s a song with a lot of wonderous catchiness but also a sense of melancholy that you can’t shake. A bit of a blend of Japanese Breakfast, Slow Pulp, Hatchie and Jay Som.
