Lunavela is the project of New Zealand singer, songwriter, and former Collapsing Cities frontman Steve Mathieson. He recently released his debut album Imposter Syndrome, one that he describes as an album celebrating universal themes: sexuality, sobriety, and sad tearjerkers.
“Next of Kin” is a particular highlight, a “love song” that simmers in a slow burn yet winning combination of a hushed dream pop sound that features a melancholic vocal delivery and production style reminiscent of modern acts such as Day Wave.
