Irish Basement, the project of Washington, DC-based musician and producer Mike Toohey, first caught the attention of our ears earlier in the year with his debut EP, Surfin’ Serotonin.
He’s recently returned with his new single “Bear Trap”, a track that turns the clock back to the 80’s for a “self-reflecting post-punk track about compulsive behavior.”
It’s got a melancholic spirit and the power of some new wave and pop elements that allow it to soar in an anthemic and passionate way that most importantly feels, raw and quite human and real.
