Last week saw Philadelphia-based artist Barney Cortez release his debut album Hullabaloo via La Reserve Records.

“Shit River” is a highlight and single from the record that describes the “dichotomy of being stuck in the streets, and in your little house or apartment, but then at the end of the day looking out at the horizon and seeing this beautiful city.” Featuring Rayland Baxter, the track has a laid-back and easy-going indie folk nature that sounds like a lazy summer dent left astray, and you have no regrets at all.

There is a timeless quality to “Shit River” that makes it feel as if it could have been from any era of music and that is always a very good sign.
