Dutch singer-songwriter Robin Kester has recently returned with her single “Cat 13”, a song that blends the worlds of artful folk and smart indie-pop.
Its graceful presence is dictated by recalling a “moment of staying in the car to avoid an uncomfortable place, using sun-kissed melodies as mediator rather than an escape.”
There is a lot of the warm ethereal glow of Aldous Harding here, with a bit of the golden hue of Julia Jacklin or Faye Webster. It’s effective in both its spellbinding vocals and arrangements, but also its meditative emotional nature.
