New York-based singer-songwriter Heather Cook is preparing the release of her debut album, Quick! No One’s Looking, and has given us a preview of it with “Dark Water.”
The 90s-esque dreamy folk anthem coasts by with a warm and tender glow that combines elements of bedroom pop/folk into something raw and personable. It’s a meditative listen, one that allows you deep into her state of being and relatable as only the more sincere songs truly can be. There’s a bit of Frankie Cosmos, Snail Mail, and Big Thief to be found here, but it’s very much a state of being that is purely Heather Cook.
