Yndling is the dream-pop project of Norwegian artist Silje Espevik, who recently released the deluxe edition of her debut self-titled EP (which was released in January).
With the expanded edition comes two new tracks, “Fringe” and “Plants”. Today we share the seductive bedroom pop glam offering “Plants” that coasts by with a groovy synth-driven sound reminiscent of bands like Men I Trust. There’s an 80s element and vibe that works well for their style of pop.
Speaking on “Plants” Espevik details:
Plants is about breaking up in a slow kinda way, and the feeling of being too close to see things clearly. It’s about the conflicting emotions of wanting to still be held in high regard by your partner, but pulling away at the same time, and the terrible sensation of losing closeness to what used to be your favorite person. I wanted to have that feeling with the production as well, and Adrian Einestor Sandberg, who I’ve been working with since I started Yndling, did such an amazing job with me on this. I love the gritty drums, and the repetitive guitar-loop over the chorus really hammering in that feeling of suffocation and almost addictive phase as you’re struggling to let go of someone”
