Texas born, Swindon bred South Londoner Rainn Byrns has returned with his groovy new single “Never Ending Story”, a song about “complete despair to the point that it becomes kind of absurd and funny.”
The track was recorded at Rainn’s home studio in deepest Peckham, playing all the instruments himself and using only analog recording techniques, and is a preview of what is to come on his debut album due out later this year.
“Never Ending Story” reminds of some early Mac DeMarco and Willie J Healey. A bristling raw garage rock effort with some charming jangly guitar work and raw bedroom production that still sounds polished at the same time. The knack of songwriting and production results in a sunny effort that will make you smile.
