The quietly reliable Minnesota-based folk duo vern matz has swiftly returned with their new album A Treatise on the Rainbow, which was released on April 22nd via Nice Guy Records.
“Chewing Gum” is the lovely album closer, a song that is self-described by the band as a Wilco style ballad. The Americana / alt country and folk vibes are surely there, even with some jazzy horn additions and flourishes to spruce it up. While it feels slightly different than previous efforts, the foundation and core of the duo’s sound is very much intact.
