Maxïmo Park turn back the clocks on their recently shared single “Great Art” that came along with the announcement that they will be doing a “Singles Only” tour later in the year.
The song feels like it could have come from their earlier days, full of big uplifting and enthusiastic production and lead singer Paul Smith’s signature lyricism. If you told me it was a lost b-side from their debut album, I would believe you.
About the song, Smith adds:
“The song is about the insidious nature of Conservative ideology, and a response to people who say, “at least we’ll get some great art out of it!” We’re excited to have new material to play alongside our other singles on the Sïngular tour – we’ve always written songs crammed full of hooks, so that’s our ideal medium in some ways.”
