Lyra’s Orchid is a new four-piece indie rock outfit out of Newquay and Bristol, England, who has caught our attention already with the release of their debut single “Tides.”
The band, comprised of Laura Netting (vocals/bass), Jack Woolcomb (guitar), Ed Perkin (guitar) and Lewis Bradshaw (drums), draw inspiration from Cornwall’s “dramatic coastline” and captures a bit of a jangly indie rock sound that feels very 90s. Slick guitar work, dreamy vocals, and a vibrant atmosphere that reminds of some of the earlier works of bands like Fear of Men and Wolf Alice.
About the track, vocalist, Laura Netting, adds:
“Tides” was inspired by the ever changing sea, its gentleness but also its power. It feels related to everyday life recently, how relentless it can be and how exposed that can make you feel.”
