Mousey is the moniker of Sarena, an artist from Christchurch, New Zealand who recently released their new album My Friends.

“One Dollar Wednesdays” is the album’s lead single and highlight, a track that captures a nostalgic feeling that calls to mind old-school retro pop giants as well as the modern sounds of artists like Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen. Blending elements of folk-rock, power, and garage rock, it’s a track that packs a big punch, while also lending you its heart.

About the track, Sarena adds:

This song is an ultra happy bop about how much I love my husband, and how far we’ve come and how precious our relationship is to me. It’s a very straightforward walkthrough of some of the early stages of our relationship, like watching Adam Sandler movies, him driving me home so I didn’t have to take the bus. It’s probably one of the few songs of mine that doesn’t really get too deep into metaphors but just sits very happily at face value.
