“Copenhagen” is the slick collaboration between Danish-American singer-songwriter Ari Alexander and jazz guitarist Cecil Alexander, known collectively as Visen. Their partnership came to fruition during their senior year at Berklee College of Music.
What started as a nostalgic look at their musical sensitivities turned into a smooth charming effort of their own. The track has all the production flourishes and delivery of modern efforts but with a melancholic retro twist, that feels, well, timeless.
About the song, the duo adds:
Our new song “Copenhagen,“ a nod to surf-rock and late nights on cobbled streets in the midnight sun, is about the beginnings of lasting love. We are a husband and wife duo, and a lot of our music is guitar-centric. It has a verse-refrain narrative structure and features a short, melodic guitar-solo. We wrote and produced this during the pandemic in Mississippi as we were reminiscing about the Copenhagen Jazz Festival where we fell in love.
