Victor Mucho is the project of Judah & the Lion’s Brian Macdonald, who is preparing the release of his solo album Moonlight in Visby, which features the recently shared single “So terribly hurt” which features vocals from singer/songwriter Molly Parden.
The track was written while living on the remote island of Gotland, Sweden in the Baltic Sea, paying homage to the tiny, rural town Macdonald, his wife Maddie, and their dog Halyard called home during a year of seclusion and reflection.
This sense of reflection is felt in the melancholic nature of the song which has a lot of the hallmarks of the best that folk rock has to offer. Gorgeously constructed with a haunting and rather melancholic sense of atmosphere, “so terribly hurt” packs a devastating emotional punch.
