Tino Drima is the moniker of Los Angeles indie songwriter Gregory DiMartino, as well as his rotating cast of collaborators. He’s getting ready to release their sophomore album early this year via Park The Van, and has given us a preview in lead single “Pismo.”

The track was written after iMartino decided to stop drinking, and began the process of re-discovering what makes him inspired and happy. The track turns back to the golden days of the radio where good old fashioned rock music was enough to become a good old-fashioned hit. Seductive and smooth as hell, the track feels like a forgotten hit from better days.

Find a stream of “Pismo” below, along with a quote from Drima about the creation of the song and the impact of getting sober.

I got sober like 8 or 9 months ago and have been sorta reintroducing myself to myself and the world,” explains DiMartino. “What do I actually like, what brings me joy, what worldly stimulus actually affects me. I drove up with some friends to Pismo Beach for a camping trip and built a fire on the sand. I felt incredible and kept playing the same finger picking thing on my guitar over and over again while everyone stared at the fire with twisted little shroom smiles. I thought about momentum, how moods and emotions follow the same physics. I’d understood the Spiral, but positive forward bouncing along is real and good. Don’t dwell, jump over the quagmires, keep rolling always forward.
