Otracami is the project of Brooklyn-based songwriter Camila Ortiz, who has made quite the debut with her lovely single “In The Car”.

The track captures a wistful atmospheric blend of dreamy lush sad folk with a melancholic spirit that feels full of a wide range of emotions, like a blend of Mitski, Japanese Breakfast and Hundred Waters. While it starts off as a personal folk effort, it slowly but surely expands into something more vivid and full of life, pushing past the concept of genre.

Or as the artist describes the song in poetic fashion:

Alone in the driver’s seat, emerging from a field of delicate guitar and insistent percussion, the narrator explores the freedom and fear of first intimacies. Tender romance gives way to grinding teeth and double takes in the rear view—was the call coming from inside the car?
