New York-based singer-songwriter Jackie West studied classical and jazz music, combines these elements with classic folk, as seen on her gorgous new single “Amelia.” The track will appear on her debut self-titled EP which will be released via Westernesse.

The track, adorned with lush strings, is a perfect combination for the deliberately arranged song that feels like it is plucked from a different era entirely. Not only are the vocals, strings, and instrumentals are huge components to the waltz-like the charm of it all, but it’s the way she uses space to give it all room to breathe which is the most impressive component.

About the song, West adds:

Amelia is about a dear friend who also represents the ‘agape’ love state after you’ve come and gone from each other’s lives many times. You know their weather in your heart and maybe you project a bit of idealism onto them, but they are actual magic, so they drink imaginative energy like water and you watch them grow in to sunflowers
