Alix Page SoCal’s Alix Page kicked off 2022 with her brand new EP Old News, which features the power-pop goodness that is the lead single and opening track “True + Honest.”
There aren’t any tricks here, just good natural songwriting that taps into a garage-pop crunch that feels equal parts 90s pop and early 2000s rock, with an emotive core and center that helps make the hooks resonate that much more. Like a blend of Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, and Diet Cig, “True + Honest” is one hell of a statement.
About the track, Page adds the following insight:
I wrote True + Honest when I was sixteen. I had just gotten out of a ‘situationship’ that ended way too easily for me to trust that the other person really meant anything they said. This is one of my most straightforward songs; the form, the lyrics, I just didn’t overthink anything.
