Steve Stout released his new album Dairy Made in December, which features a handful of lovely songs we already shared – as well as some we haven’t, such as album closer “Darker Days.”

The track comes in capturing a classic folk sound with a patient yet thoughtful storytelling approach, full of wondrous imagery and a sense of melancholy and lost. In other words, it’s timing during yet again another trying time is most certainly welcome.

“Darker Days” is streaming now below after this quote from Stoud about its creation:

I wrote this song 5 years ago when I was working with my buddy Jonny Perdue in Lost Beach and Jason and I had just started to work together in the studio pre-ØZWALD. It was the first song I felt wasn’t total shit and had a version kicking around for years. Had this record nearly done and decided to re-record this song at the end of that process and use it as the closing track. Felt cool to go full circle and realize that this song seemed to hold up to all of the newer stuff I had written.

Enjoy a listen to “Darker Days” now below.
