The White Russian is an English music collective led by singer-songwriter Joseph Giffard Tutt, who have caught our attention with their stunning new release, “Cancer Knee.”

The song has written when Tutt was suffering from chronic fatigue and a weakened immune system, with the song becoming a “cathartic musing on the nature and purpose of illness and disease.”

It captures an enchanting folk sound that has an eerie and uneasy atmosphere, combining the efforts of Midlake, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Grizzly Bear. With a simplicity that taps into the root of great songwriting, it takes a left turn into something slightly sinister and cinematic with the horn arrangements and a powerful chorus that achieves all that it sets out for.

About the song, Tutt explains:

his song was actually written in the delirium of a fever, however that day I felt like I was able to click into some form of being philosophical about the condition and let my artistic curiosity take over.
