Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Nathaniel Pozin has charmed us with his new single “Bed Spin.” The track is built upon a light indie-folk and rock sound that feels very 90s in spirit, a song that he wrote as he was questioning if he could get back with his ex.
The song moves gracefully with some lovely instrumentation that keeps things light while still capturing a sense of loss and melancholy. Vocally the song also captures a bit of an earworm quality that you will struggle to get out of your head – very Alex G in some ways.
Find a bit of insight about the songwriting below, along with a stream of the wonderful track.
I wrote this song as I was questioning if my ex and I could ever be together again. I sought to communicate that the beat of our hearts is out of sync, yet there’s hope they can still work together. To me, the flutes and mellotron tones accurately represent the melancholy present within the lyrics and melodies, and I purposely ended the song with a real, unanswered question: Are the pulses of your lungs ever on the beat of my own? Instruments used: acoustic guitar (rhythm), vocals, electric guitar (lead), mellotron, flute, bass, drums, congas.
