South London band moa moa recently returned with their single “Drive” a track from an upcoming EP that sees the band take elements from various genres of indie all while turning it into something distinctly their own.
With a big blend of synth and electronic production that plays with elements of math rock, all with a big and ambitious atmosphere with hints of experimental indie rock/pop ala Alt-J and a more Radiohead-like bombastic nature. In some ways, it’s reminiscent of other sounds but finds a way to make it completely new and refined.
About “Drive” the band’s James Ratcliffe adds:
“It’s a playful take on my apathy towards the idea that the world was suddenly going to be flipped on its head because we’d all sat around in our houses for a year.
‘This EP is the first big introduction to the different sides of what we’re trying to do, and Drive is the bridge towards some of that.”
