The Album Leaf, the project of electronic musician Jimmy LaValle, is finally putting his 2001 EP In an Off White Room on streaming services.
It’s a look at the early days of the artist, such as the touching ambient esque lovely single “Glisten.” With touching electronic instrumentation and spacial airy production accompanied by the sound of rainfall, it’s a total mood within itself.
The track is described by LaValle as follows:
I’ve always found inspiration in whatever is happening around me, so In my early days of recording, I thought it was important to also record my surroundings. With ‘Glisten,’ you hear the rain. I put a microphone in my apartment window, hit record, and sat down at my Rhodes. In my early Album Leaf days, since Tristeza was my main band and I wrote everything for it on guitar, most of my solo Rhodes recordings were improvised and captured in one take.
