Boston-based act Slow Dress has released a cover of Julia Jacklin’s breakout track “Pressure To Party.”

The group covers it faithfully, staying true to the heart and soul of the tune, while offering plenty of their own flourishes to give it a stamp of its own. It has the power and punch of the original but also offers a more intimate version that allows it to stand out a bit on its own.

Below find the band explaining their reasoning for picking this song to cover and their interpretation of its meaning.

All of us in Slow Dress really love Julia Jacklin and have been big fans of her music for a long time. This song was really fun to cover and is one of our favorites for a lot of reasons, especially how relatable it is. We all know what it’s like to have a ton of pressure on you to feel differently than you actually feel, like it’s not okay to be with yourself as you are, or like you need to hide your pain, grief, or whatever other difficult emotion you might be experiencing. That can often come in the form of an external pressure, but it’s also something we internalize. It can be really hard to navigate the internal conflict between wanting to move on and not wanting to let go of something. For us, “Pressure to Party” really captures that complicated feeling.
