Tarul is an Indo-American artist raised in Houston, Texas and now resides in San Francisco, California. The multi-instrumentalist writes, records, and produces all of his tracks, including his upcoming concept album, Blood so thick it clots in the veins.
He’s released the awesome high-energy lead single “Ravi ain’t worth” a post-punk jam with a bit of a dance-friendly vibe, like a shimmering Parquet Courts, sound if they spent a few nights at the dance hall. The track is well polished and confidently made, delivering the goods with a sense of urgency that it absolutely nails.
Enjoy a listen to the awesome track below, where we have also included a quote from Tarul about the inspiration of the song:
The track highlights the status obsession that plagues relationships in South Asian cultures, with the track featuring the protagonist’s parents attacking their child for his romantic choices. This track serves as a catalyst that commits the protagonist into an unwanted relationship and a series of missteps that is the rest of the album.
