Rey is an indie-pop project from Alex Cherney, with all of the songs written, performed, and produced from Cherney’s tiny house studio in upstate New York.

He recently let go of his new single “First Love,” a song that is perfectly titled and sounds exactly as it should. It’s a warm and tender charming slice of indie rock, with elements of folk-rock and power pop.

There is an effortless breezy nature that reminds of some of the early work of artists like John Vanderslice and Ben Kweller. It’s the sort of song that feels like a big warm hug, feel of genuine heart and emotion.
