Finding Illinois is the solo project of Toronto-based musician Chris Veres from Rough//Shapes, with the moniker of Finding Illinois inspired by the David Berman poem ‘the Spine of the Snowman.

The goal of the project was to experiment combining lo-fi acoustic guitars and elements from shoegaze. He’s recently let go of single “Song of a Thousand Lifetimes,” taken from his debut EP Video Camera Eyes.

The track turns the clock back to the intimate indie-folk of the early 2000s, which uses minimal sounds and atmospherics to allow the focus to be on the poignant vocal delivery and intimacy of the track that packs a subtle yet strong emotional wallop. They don’t quite make them like this anymore.
