Sydney, Australia-based dream poppers Bridge Dog caught our attention and hearts on their previously released single “San Francisco” and they keep it going strong on its follow-up “Lemon.”
The track reminds of the indie-pop dreaminess of bands like Alvvays and Hatchie, with a nostalgic 80s sound and emotional glow that is utterly charming and irresistible. It’s a sound that the band says sounds like a “car crash” but if this is a car crash, this is the only one that we want to take part in.
Find an even deeper quote about the song below along with a stream of the track.
Lemons are most commonly known as sour, yellow, citrus fruits, but also refer to vehicles that are found to be irreparably defective, but only after purchase. ‘Lemon’ tells the story of a relationship veering off the road from sour, to a mess of mangled wreckage. We produced the song to sound like a car crash, with guitar pedals recreating squealing brakes and burning rubber, the end of the song spiralling through key changes until the song reaches its inevitable conclusion and explodes into nothing.
