Husbands is the duo of Seattle resident Danny and Oklahoma City resident Wil, who together, combine forces to w rite summery lo-fi pop. This includes their recently released single “Must Be a Cop,” which they describe as a “punk rock song written in the wake of the glorious train-wreck that was 2020.” It’s off their upcoming album Full-On Monet, which is due out this fall.
Its taps into a mix of mid 2000s blog indie rock, with a cool hypnotic guitar line and dreamy arrangements that use lo-fi production to their charm. It feels like a mix of Animal Collective, Dan Deacon, Harlem and Panda Bear, all rolled into one. There is a vibrant life-affirming quality to it all that feels quite ironic given the origin of its creaiton.
