New Zealand’s Nik Brinkman has recently returned with his new solo album Secret Stairs which was released via Declared Goods. The record was written between Wellington and Stockholm with longtime friend and collaborator, Emanuel Lundgren, with the two passing voice memo sketches for songs during covid lockdown.
“Candy” is a standout from the record written about a “deep love and admiration for someone in your life. The feeling of bliss, and of it being greater than anything else.” The glossy jam is an intimate mix of psych-rock with a colorful bedroom pop sound, somehow sounding both retro and modern at the same time.
