Oxford Mississippi-based singer/songwriter Anne Freeman is a musician that built a solid following playing shows which won the attention of local label Muscle Beach who will release her debut album Keep It Close on June 25th.
“When I’m A Wreck” is like a mix of Swedish pop with a Southern heart, like a combination of Jenny Lewis, Tennis, and Jens Lekman. A wicked smart pop sensibility, delivered with warm vocals that feel like they’re pulled from a different era, and gorgeous strings that bring it all home.
Freeman says of the track:
“When I’m a Wreck” is a very personal song for me. It’s about getting lost in the loneliness of my own mind and being lucky enough to have a person in my life that fully understands and loves me despite those inward struggles. I’m bad about taking that for granted sometimes, so I wrote this one for my husband
