Wilter is the LA-based songwriter and producer Will Durkee. He has recently shared his debut single “solo/solong,” a self-made track that is a byproduct of the chaotic year that was 2020.

A blend of indie folk surrounded by synth atmospherics that captures a solemn and personal emotonal tone that is carried with an emotive melancholic spirit that taps into something raw, personal, and real. It feels like a crossover between Bon Iver, Alex G, and a bit of the latter day production of The National/Aaron Dessner.

About the track, wilter added this bit of information about its creation:

I wrote the initial synth patch and melody on a red-eye flight while everyone was asleep. Despite having tons of people packed closely around me in this cold aluminum tube hurtling over the ocean below – it was the first moment I felt the full weight of my aloneness after a breakup. There’s a certain type of hollow beauty you can only feel in loss. A bittersweet optimism about who you are and where you’re going…a moment of stillness in the turbulence.
