Alice Mary is a musician out of East London who turns back the clock making the sort of pop that shined a little bit brighter back in the 80s.

This is showcased on her recently released single “Too Much,” a song described as being made with “Prince-inspired synths and guitars” with lyrics about “sex and anxiety.”

There’s a smooth and natural pop charm to it all that is breezy and light, not overproduced and doing too much like so many pop songs these days. It’s the first of four singles that Mary will release this year.

You can stream “Too Much” below, where we have also shared a quote from her about its deeper meaning.

it’s about desire and wondering if wanting too much can kill you. Feeling around in the dark with someone, trying to let each other in but not really knowing how. It’s about seeing if you can just bear to hang around long enough to see what happens. And how embarrassing it is to let people know you
