Danish singer-songwriter Annsofie Salomon only has a few songs under her belt but both were striking enough to catch our attention. She has since announced the release of her debut EP Only Space and Time Can Tell How to Breath in an Ocean Shell on June 11th via Tambourhinoceros.

With the announcement came the release of the semi title-track “Ocean Shell” which opens with a haunted presence that feels like it will someday be opening to a show like Netflix’s Dark. This is enchanting freak-folk and art-rock, like a mix of Weyes Blood, Aldous Haring, Joanna Newsom, and even The Knife. The track is quite the achievment, one that you won’t be able to shake soon after listening.

Find a quote about its’ meaning to Salomon below, along with a stream of the enchanting track.

“Ocean Shell is about someone dear to me. Throughout my life, I’ve found it impossible to grasp how her illness affects her—if it makes her unhappy, or if it simply makes her her. It is something that defines her deeply; gives her a sense of fragility that is present in everything.

“Her fragility is a beautiful thing to me, but the sadness and the sorrow that is felt in her every song, her every carefully tended rose and her every brushstroke is the hardest thing in the world for me to bear.”
