Davey Harris is the new solo project of Dave Muntner, drummer of the Buffalo-based indie trio The Tins, who are currently on hiatus. They’re all using the time to release songs of their own and Dave, now going by his new solo moniker, has shared his first song, “Glamour,” a collaboration with the Milwaulkee-basd art collective VUCA.
The track captures a bit of a 60s freak folk and glam rock sound that harkens to many of the legendary greats of the past, while also harnessing the energy to create something very much of its own that builds and builds and embraces the weird as it goes along. While it’s a very different feel from his work with The Tins, that same ear-worm quality is very much intact.
You can find “Glamour” streaming below, where we have also shared a quote from Muntner about the song:
As we immerse ourselves in the sounds of “Glamour”, we are under the spell of the trancy, suggestive beat. The haunting lyrics wrap the listener in a cloak of false security. We are disarmed while surrounded by pure hedonism. The song’s pattern of tension and release mirrors the push and pull of our own ego; at first rejecting and ultimately succumbing to indulgence.
