New York’s Olivia Wendel caught the attention of our ears last month with her lovely single “Stop & Shop” and she has since returned with the equally winning “Portland.”
The track, which was written prior to the pandemic while riding the train, saw her dreaming of places she has never seen. This past year featured a lot of dreaming of where we will eventually get to go and this theme is felt heavily on “Portland.” The track features a warm glowing tender emotional feel that is richly produced by Jeff Peters, to not only highlight her vocals but a big time indie folk sound that feels like a mix of Phoebe Bridgers and Kacey Musgraves.
