Alyson McNamara is a Toronto-based singer songwriter who has captured our hearts with her lovely new single “Waiting.” The song is a tender and wholesome folk track in the vein of Big Thief or Angel Olsen, a personal confession that sits in the experience of being alone as “wanting someone you can’t have and being haunted by their misleading presence” yet eventually “coming to a place of bitter-sweet acceptance and moving on.”
The track has a fragile nature and warm atmospheric tone that is submerged in a melancholy ghostly presence, yet, at the same time, a light awaits at the end of the tunnel. Her voice paired alongside an additional male vocalist in a nice touch that only enhances the power of this touching tune.
