Leeds outfit Joe by the Book craft a chill and youthful indie rock spirit on their newly released single “Be Somebody.” The track is the second in a run of three singles from the bands.
The song tells the story of “Dan – a man who believes more in his fiction than his fact, and is desperately chasing the person he is not. The tale of reinvention and blissful ignorance is echoed in the arrangement that juxtaposes the characters imagined persona with crushing reality.
The band confidently taps into a smooth and confident sound that channels acts like Dan Croll and Mystery Jets, while also finding a groove of its own and makes it clear why Joe by the Book has been heralded by BBC Introducing.
